One of a Kind
When I first got back in to cycling in 2008 I spent hours on the web searching for anything to do with my new passion. I came across the North American Hand Built Bicycle Show and have followed every one since. That year Naked Cycles of Quadra Island British Columbia won three awards with the bike pictured above, Baba Ganoush. It now hangs in Mellow Johnny's, Lance Armstrong's bike shop in Austin Texas. The show features the custom bike builders of the world and many of the trends and innovations in the industry get their start here. If you love looking at craftsmanship and bikes, go through the numerous galleries online.

First Shot
I had this shot in mind as I passed the spot on my daily ride to work. I missed the timing of the sunrise a few times before getting there today with just minutes left. The bike is my Canadian made 1974 Raleigh Citation or Molly. She was converted to singlespeed with new wheels, pursuit bars, a Brooks B17 saddle, Sugino crank, Continental Gatorback tires and Tektro brakes. Molly is my favourite ride at this point in time, but that tends to change.

Seduto sulla vita
I imagine him visiting a place where he and his wife came often before she passed. A place where they would eat a picnic lunch and steal a kiss or two when no one was looking. Afterwards they would ride back to their small village together.
He smiles to himself as he closes his eyes and looks into hers again. He remembers the afternoons they spent sharing some wine, a baguette and many tender moments. They came here to get away from the rest of the world, to be alone. Now he comes to be alone with her memory. Afterwards he rides back to the small village, alone.
